Forum Questions – Transportation – Active/Public

Transportation plays a vital role in our lives. For most of us it is taken for granted. Others do not have their own transportation, or are unable to drive themselves. This limits where they can go and what they can do. Then there are those who would greatly benefit from improved routes for active transportation – biking and walking paths.

Forum Questions – Question Themes

During the Morden City Council All-Candidates Forum there was a clear theme for almost all of the questions posed to the candidates: Community! Morden has a strong sense of community and Mordenites want to develop, nurture and grow our community. Many, if not all, of the questions posed revolved around a desire for inclusivity, and diversity. Most of the questions revolved around creating a community that is looking to the future and developing a space that is safe for everyone, that has capacity to grow, and promotes a healthy and active lifestyle.

Forum Questions – Diversity and Inclusion – Truth and Reconciliation

Many good questions were asked during the All-Candidates Forum. Due to time constraints not all were able to be addressed. Candidates were provided a list of all the questions posed, answered or not. Some questions deserve to be answered and I will do my best to address them all.

One question asked during the forum deserves more time, energy, and thought from every single one of the candidates running for office. Truth and Reconciliation is deserving of real thought, concrete action, and a great deal more energy than has been afforded to it so far.

Diversity and Inclusion is a topic near and dear to my heart as I have many friends and family who are members of marginalized communities. My goal in life, and as a political candidate, is to earn the title of “ally.” This is not one that can be claimed but must be earned. It can be revoked at any time, and I will continue to do my darnedest to earn that title every single day.

Elections and Fundraising

Donations

I recently saw a post online basically maligning contributions given to municipal candidates. The post asked for the person considering donating to ask what impact their contribution would have on the community. Specifically whether a donation to a local charity would have more impact than to a politician. The answer is that they both have an impact but in different ways.
